🌳🐷Outdoor Event🐷🌳

SPECIAL REPORT

On Saturday, we had a great day out with our students and their families!
We were so lucky with the weather. It was a beautiful bright and sunny morning, perfect for harvesting sweet potatoes and peanuts!!
Thanks to a little help from the moms, dads, brothers, sisters and grandparents, all of the students were able to dig up something to take home for dinner!

After we’d finished our harvesting, we set off to see the farm animals.
The Pre-Kinder and Nursery have been studying about farm animals all month, so this was a great opportunity for them to meet the real animals, and we got to meet a new animal – goats.

The Kinder students also enjoyed seeing all of the animals, and were very helpful shouting “Come out pig!” very loudly to get the pig to come out of its house to see us! They also did well counting the different animals to complete their activity worksheets.

After all of that hard work and excitement, everyone was very glad to sit down and enjoy a well-earned picnic lunch!

🐴Baa baa!!🐏

This month’s Pre Kinder theme is farm animals. Students are learning animal songs such as Old MacDonald and this weekend we will visit a farm!
In keeping with this theme, today’s social studies activity was about farm animals. We started with a sheep and made a home for him with all the things he needs: grass, friends and water. This was a good chance to review naming animals and animal sounds too.

I hope the students are looking forward to seeing real farm animals on Saturday!

Our Nursery class is also enjoying the farm animal theme this month!!

👪Family🐷🐷🐷

Our Kinder classes continue to practice talking about family this month.
In this week’s craft lesson, they made some family members out of playdough!

🏥Learning through Play🏥

Today we enjoyed playing as doctors and patients. Students really enjoyed this kind of play-acting. It was also a chance to explore ways to care for each other, physically and emotionally. “Do they have a fever?” “Where is sore?” “Are you happy?”
Students then tried to find the problem and help their friend feel better. Everyone was so caring and helpful.

🚙Kinder Monsters!📚

This week, the Kinder classes drew monsters during art and math time. Each student began with a piece of paper and crayons. The teacher drew an outline of a body on their paper. Then each student took turns rolling a pair of dice. The numbers on the first die represented body parts. For example, 1 = eyes, 4 = noses, 6 = legs. The numbers on the second die represented the number of body parts. So, if the student rolled a 1 and a 3, they would draw three eyes on their monster.

These are the monsters the Kinder 1 class created. One monster has a lot of eyes and the other has a lot of legs. Last, the students practiced this week’s English vocabulary to talk about their what their monsters can do. “He can read,” or “He can drive.”
