Today is the first day of December, and so the Nursery children are preparing for Christmas. Before the festivities can begin, though, some warm-up exercises.
A little walking, jumping, and running,
followed by some well gestured ‘Stop’ commands.
We finished with some other actions such as clap, stomp, and crawl.
After the children were in an English mind, we practiced the monthly phrase, ‘Ouch!’
We practiced recognizing when to say ‘ouch’, when falling over, bumping your head, being pushed or bumping into another child.
All fairly common occurrences for Nursery children, so plenty of practice to be had.
Next came counting. First, we used the advent calendar to help with counting.
Then, with the help of a helpful counting song, we practiced counting on our hands. A task the children are improving in well.
despite the occasional mixed signal.
I’m sure he had fun.
After counting, we sang some Christmas songs. The first one ‘Jingle Jingle Little Bell’ required some participation. Pretending to ring bells fast, slow, high, low.
This being their first time, though, there was more watching than ringing. All in good time.
With that, the lesson ended and the children went out to enjoy the sandbox.
A great way to end a great morning. Good job everyone.
