☆Kinder 2☆

Today, the Kinder 2 class practiced for their shopping event and Christmas party.  But to start, they warmed up with some rhythm play.  First, a demonstration.

We counted to four then clapped to the beat.  Once the children were comfortable with that, some extra moves were introduced.

After a few practice runs, it was the children’s turn.

Things started off well with single and double claps.

Then they started introducing more interesting moves.

The children especially liked it when the teacher tried one of their more stranger moves.

Once everyone had had a go making up a rhythm, we looked at the quiz questions for the Christmas party.  Most of the questions were easy for them.

A little explanation for some question words was needed, but once the had the idea the answer was simple.

Some questions were a little tougher.  One needed an explanation for the word “naughty,” which was tricky for them.

However, with some comic acting they got the idea and the answer.

The final question asked “How many reindeer pull Santa’s sleigh?”  For this, the children had to choose an answer and put the same number of reindeer on a card.

Everyone then counted the reindeer.

Eight, good answer. How about the other team?

They chose three. Good effort, close. Answers won’t be given till the party, but they were guided to the right number.

Finally for Christmas, we sang the party song, “Silly Santa Claus.” We looked at the lyrics and tried to pronounce the trickier words.

It was a bit tough,

but they enjoyed singing the simpler parts of the song, and dancing to the actions.

With that finished, we ended the lesson by practicing shop language for their shopping event. Welcoming customers with a big “Welcome! What would you like?”

Then it was good bye.  They did well with the quiz and attempted the Christmas song well.  Singing sentences in English can be daunting, but they gave it a good go.  Great job, everyone.
