Today, the Kinder 3 class had a different morning than usual. Today, they visited an Elementary school.
So today’s English lesson started with some questions about their trip. “Where did you go this morning?” “What did they see?” “Did you like the school?”
They had fun and were soon discussing what they liked about their trip.
The children then warmed up to some ‘walking around the circle’. This is their favorite starting activity and they enjoy sleeping and twirling.
We said and sang “Hello” and then the children practiced sitting correctly for school.
Once sat, we practiced counting in 5s. First we counted up to 50 together. Then we tried writing dots in groups of 5, counting as we go.
When the demonstration was over, it was the children’s turn.
They did nicely, counting well with the child drawing the dots. The numbers 15 and 50, however, are still a little tricky.
After the numbers, it was time to practice a song. With Setsubun coming up, the children are singing “Oni’s Pants” in English.
They are great with the actions, if a little shy of singing. They do a good “tough and strong,” though.
After that, the children asked each other questions. They could choose from any question they had practiced in the past. “What’s your favorite … ?” was their favorite.
Finally, the Kinder 3 class sat down to their workbooks.
Todays letter was ‘Xx’, and they had to decide if the object pictured had an ‘Xx’ in it. “Taxi” and “box” were easy for them, but “mix,” some confused with ‘ks’ as in “books.”
With the coloring finished, all that was left to do was say goodbye and choose between a high or low touch.
It was a long day for the Kinder 3 class, but they did excellently. Great job, everyone.
