☆Kinder 3☆

It was a nice warm day today, and the Kinder 3 class enjoyed a nice walk in the morning. As a result, the children were feeling a little sleepy in the afternoon. So, we took it easy in the English lesson.

We started, as always,  by saying ‘Hello’.

Clapping, stamping of feet, stretching up, and turning around,

and, of course, saying hello to one another.

Next, the children practiced their vocabulary. This month, they are talking about things they do during their day. First they sat in a circle.

When they were shown the cards, they tried to guess the vocabulary. Some children tried to read the description, and did very well.

The children would repeat the vocabulary and then practice, “I (take off my shoes).” For actions like ‘Watch TV’ we could also ask “Do you watch TV?” Some children then tried to change the question, for example, “Do you watch Pokémon?”

They love to change the vocabulary in questions. “Do you eat natto?,” is a favorite of theirs.

Once the cards had been looked at, the children formed 3 groups and lined up where they were asked to.

For this game, a tower was built on a card. The children had to throw a ball and hit the tower. If they missed, the ball would be passed to the next in line. If they hit the tower, they had to make a sentence using the vocabulary on the card.

At the start there were some wild throws as the children zeroed in on their target. However,

it wasn’t long before towers started to fall. They then looked at the card and made a sentence, after which they tried to build the tower back up.

This aims to teach the children to work together and share the tower blocks.
The children had great fun and did very well with their sentences.

Finally, the children sat down at the tables a practiced writing.

Today, they had to write their name, and then recognize it when written in many different styles.

They wrote their names well, and found their names even when written in cursive, which is not easy.

With their names written, and the pencils and booklets handed back, it was time to say goodbye.

The Kinder 3 class did exceptionally well. Their writing is coming along steadily, they are repeating English confidently and love personalizing sentences with their own flare.

Great job, K3. Keep up the good work.
