The Nursery class started their lesson by responding to their name when called. We encouraged them to raise their hand and, if possible, say “here,” or some verbal response.
For some, this was their first time recognizing their name, raising their hands was much enjoyed.
Others recognized their name, but responded with,
a big smile, and a big first step.
Once they had said hello to one another, the children looked at some vocabulary. This month, they are talking about their day. They looked at, ‘Story time’, ‘Home time’, and ‘Nap time’.
It was a warm day and some of the children were a bit sleepy, so ‘nap time’ was a fun activity to play pretend to.
Now, can they wake up? Well, to help them ‘rise and shine’ they played ‘Statues’. They would walk to music,
with some help if needed,
and when the music stopped, they had to stand still.
They then chose a card by touching it, then listened to the vocabulary. They can’t yet repeat the vocab so they touched the card instead.
Some great interaction, it won’t be long before they are making sounds.
Finally, the children listened to a song they will perform later this month. The song “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” is a song they have listened to before, so they are well acquainted with it. For the song, we encouraged the children to wiggle their fingers like a shining star.
They did very well, with some excellent finger work going on.
Even starting to raise their hands “up above the world, so high,” and twinkling. They are coming along well.
With the song finished, it was time to say goodbye. We counted to three and gave a big wave goodbye. Another great morning for the Nursery class. Keep up the great work!
