⭐︎Nursery⭐︎

The Nursery class started their week with some movement. Walking, slowly the faster,

jumping, slowly then faster.

They ended with some running, and in between each action the children would stop.

They really are getting the hang of stopping very well.

After the children had sat down they sang the “Hello” song.

They still find singing along a bit tricky, but try well, and they love doing the actions.

When they had finished the song, the children read their names and responded with “Here” when their name was called. They can recognize most of the classes names, which is excellent, and always give a big “Here” if verbal.

They moved on to singing and moving their fingers to “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” They are moving their fingers nicely and forming good “diamonds in the sky.”

Some very energetic stars.

Once they had calmed down, they practiced some counting. First, they counted to 10 on their fingers. Then they used blocks to see how high a tower they could build.

First, a little demonstration, then it was their turn.

The lesson ended with them listening to a reading of “Clouds, Clouds, Where are you from?” A young boy looked up at the sky and saw animal shaped clouds and thought about where the animals came from.

The children listened well and sometimes called out the names of animals they knew. The children did very well today. Dancing and performing actions, and speaking as much as they could.

Great job, everyone. Keep it up.

Today, the Kinder 3 class had their first lesson since their graduation, so we asked them about it. “Did you enjoy graduation?” “What did you do after graduation?”

Everyone had good fun graduating, though some were a bit sad. It was emotional for all there. As for what they did after, many went to a sushi restaurant. Sounds like a good day.

After that, we did some warm-up actions and said hello. They do enjoy walking around the circle, and all the subsequent actions.

For the first activity, we practiced saying ‘excuse me’. We made two teams, one sat at one end of the room,

and the other team formed a line in front of them. This team first had to choose who had “the ball.”

Once “the ball” was given, and the children lined up, on of the children from the first team would walk up to the line.

If they chose someone without “the ball,” the person said “I’m sorry,” and let them pass. If they chose someone with “the ball,” then the two children would swap places.

It was a fun game and the children spoke very well.  We followed the activity by singing “The Wheels on the Bus.” The children can sing nicely and enjoy doing the actions.

Next was numbers. We played “Hungry Hippos.”

They were given a color of ball to collect and then a countdown. When they heard “go,” the picked as many balls of that color as they could.

When the round ended, they counted their balls. We then took the two highest ball counts and multiplied them together. For example, 3×3=9. They do well with sums and enjoy the challenge.

To end the lesson, we looked at the alphabet. They chose some letters and were then asked to make a 3 letter word from them.

After some laughs trying to pronounce “nkt,” they spelt one.

From this, we expanded.

This can be tricky due to the different sounds of “one,” “tone,” and “gone.” They do, however, enjoy making words and trying to pronounce them.

And with that, the lesson was finished. We sang good-bye and the children enjoyed some playtime. They had good fun and were enthusiastic with their gameplay and speaking.

Great job, everyone.

Today, the Kinder 3 class had a dress rehearsal for their graduation ceremony.  As a result, the Kinder 1’s English was shorter than usual. Therefore, for the first half of the class, the children made origami circles.

First, they chose a colored piece of paper and folded it diagonally.

Once folded, they taped the far points of the paper together to form a circle.

All that was left to do was throw them and watch as they floated along. Or darted into the ground

Once they had put their origami away, it was time for English. They practiced a message for the Kinder 3 class, to thank them for their help and kindness. “Thank you for playing with us. We will miss you.”

After that, the children sat at their tables and practiced drawing themselves. A self portrait is a tricky thing to do, they focused well.

They used various colors and enjoyed trying to draw their face.

When finished, they showed off their attempts. They were happy with their portraits, and one even wrote his name. Excellent job.

Even with a shorter lesson, the children enjoyed themselves and talking about their faces. Great job, everyone.

☆Kinder 2☆

Today, the Kinder 2 class started their lesson with a nice walking warm-up followed by singing the “Hello” song.  Along with saying hello, they also had to stretch high and touch their toes.

Next was the monthly phrase.  This month, they are practicing saying “Excuse me,” and replying with “I’m sorry.” For today’s exercise, they were using a big stuffed ‘George’ and passing it around.

Whoever had the ‘George’ had to say the phrase then pass it.  The next person then replied and carried on the process.

The children enjoyed passing the big ‘George,’ and spoke very well.

Afterward, the children sang “The Wheels on the Bus.”  They know the song well and can do the actions nicely.

From the wheels going round and round and the door going open and shut,

to the horn going beep beep and the people going up and down.

They love acting out the actions, and are singing more confidently.

Once the children had calmed down from their “bus ride,” they played a counting game. They formed themselves into teams and then one from each team stepped into the center.

The players had 10 seconds to collect as many blocks of the same color as they could.  The other children counted down, and when they got to zero they said “Stop!”

The teams then had to count their blocks. Big blocks counted as 2, and small blocks as 1.

They all made a great effort and help was there if needed.

Counting in two’s can be tricky, but everyone did very well.

When the blocks had been put away, they children then practiced asking each other questions. “What’s your name?” “How old are you?” “Do you like…?”  They formed themselves into pairs and took turns asking and answering.

They are great with asking names and ages, and they are getting more comfortable with asking other questions. “Do you like lasagna?” being a favorite amongst them.

And with that, the children sang one more song, the “ABC” song, then said good-bye.

A great job and much fun had by all today.  They like to say how they feel and love dancing and performing actions. Keep it up, everyone.
