The Kinder 1 class started their English lesson by saying hello. With big waves,

and happy stomping,

the children warmed up nicely for the day. After saying hello, they were asked “How are you?” There were many answers of “Happy and hungry,” some tired, and a few were sleepy.
To energize the sleepy children, they did the “Walking, walking” song. First, the class started walking, trying to sing along to the song.

This was followed by some hopping, jumping, and sleeping.

And the most important instruction of all, “Stop!”

Everyone had a great time and did really well listening and stopping at the right time.

Next, the class sat down and looked at the alphabet. The letters were shuffled and then the children had to name them.

They can sing the “ABC song” well, but random letters out of order can be a challenge. The K1 class, however, did excellently and got all but a few correct. The letters were then placed on the ground and we played “Parachute.”

A little man was drawn with a particular expression, for example “sad.” The children then had to choose a letter that spelt “sad.” If they were right, the letter was written in. If they were wrong, a parachute string was cut.

They enjoyed choosing letters and giving examples of words starting with the letter. It was also good practice for tougher sounds like “h,” saying “h” not “ha.”

With the word complete, the children celebrated saving the wee man.

Finally, the children colored in their workbooks. Today, we looked at the letters “Bb,” “Cc,” and “Dd.” On the first page, they chose the pictures which started with a “d” sound.

On the second page, they matched the big letters to the small letters.

Once done, they colored the pictures, naming the colors as they went.
With that finished, the children handed in their books and colored pencils and stood up to sing “Goodbye.”

The children participated well in the activities and their speaking is coming along well. They always do well with alphabet activities and enjoy playing with words.
Keep up the great work, everyone.
