Hello and welcome to the first English blog for the Nursery class. The children are starting to get used to the classes, and to the big English instructor, and are beginning to enjoy singing and moving to the songs.
The first song for today was the “Slowly, slowly” song, where the children have to walk, jump, hop, and run.
The children are doing really well, walking, jumping, and running. Also, they can stop when needed, which is great.
After we moved around a bit, we sang the “Hello, hello” song. While saying “Hello” is a little tricky, some have started waving along.
Once “hello” had been said, we asked “How are you?” For this we practiced “happy, sad, angry” and “sleepy.” Again, they are starting to use the actions nicely, and some can even say “happy,” which is excellent. We put our hands to our cheeks for happy,
rub your eyes for when you’re sad,
and, of course, take a wee nap when sleepy.
We followed this up with some counting. We counted up to ten, encouraging them to use their fingers for each number. We then sang “One Little Finger” where the children practice pointing up and down, and touching various body parts.
Finally, we read a story. This story was about how carrots, burdock roots, and Japanese radishes got their color.
It was their first English story time so it took them a while to get into it, but, when they did, they seemed to enjoy it.
With that, we said “Goodbye” and the children went outside to play. Excellent job, everyone, and keep up the great work.
