Make sure your desks are clean; the big cheese is visiting the office today.
（デスクの上が片付いているようにね。今日、お偉いさんがオフィスに来るからー。）

Apparently his uncle is a big cheese at one of the major banks.
（彼のおじさん、有名銀行のお偉いさんらしい。）

big cheese は「ボス」「お偉いさん」「大物」って意味だよ。cheesy とは全く違う意味だね.

どうして big cheese と呼ばれるようになったのかはナゾで、いろんな説があるんだってー。
