Edward Biddulph, from Oxford Archeology, said, “It may be the oldest egg of its type in the world.” A few years ago, scientists from Oxford Archeology found four eggs in Aylesbury, England. Three of the eggs broke, but the scientists said one of the eggs was saved. The scientists were called Douglas Russell. Mr. Russell is a scientist who studies eggs at London’s Natural History Museum. He told the scientists the best way to keep the egg and to look at what is in it. Mr. Russell said, "There are older eggs... for example, the [museum] has [other] eggs... from Egypt in 1898, which may be older.” But he thinks this is the oldest egg that was kept safe outside. The egg was found next to a Roman road. Other things, such as pottery, shoes, and animal bones, were also found there. Scientists think the eggs were left there as an offering. The scientists are working with the Natural History Museum to find out the best way to take out what is in the egg. Famous Japanese baseball player Ichiro Suzuki also supports girls playing baseball.
